Strength TogetHER 6- Session 2

6th October,2020.

On 6th October,2020, We'd the second session of Strength Together cohort 6. Our topic was "Celebrating Small Victories" which was moderated by Miss. Nishma Choudhary Ma'am.She is a television presenter and is currently busy with her two projects as a host; first, podcasts called "The good health" which focuses on the different aspects of health-related issues and a podcast on mental health in collaboration with UNWomen and Youth Thinkers Society.

We celebrated small victories among 28 girls and some of them even shared their personal experiences:

From being a complete introvert to an extrovert, our first speaker shared her moments of victory achievement. She said that she even had to change her school due to her discomfort around sociable students. Later she was given a chance to host a program and despite of her lack of social skills she was able to do it and claims it a victory for herself regarding her social life.

When our second speaker's dream of being a primary schooler at St. Mary's school failed, she said that she pulled off victory when she was admitted to St. Xavier's college as a high schooler.

Inspite of the fact that our third speaker felt low when she got scolded by her drawing teacher for the drawing she potrayed, she said that her father cheered her up saying that she had a unique thinking which made her paint the picture very different than others. She claims the moment as a victory in her life to hear it from her father that it still helps to boost her confidence in every field she presents herself.

Although public speaking was our fourth speaker's cup of tea,she shared her moment when stage fright hit her all of a sudden at the backstage and how she takes it as a victory for herself being a third grader to put all her confidence together and rock the stage.

Our final speaker shared her funny experience of victory over stupidity. She said that getting off the train just few minutes before it's departure only to fetch coffee was the stupid thing she did and claims a victorious moment for herself when she was able to catch the train and not miss it.

Hearing to 5 of them brought a different glow in all of our faces and especially to Nishma ma'am's face as she could relate to the happiness the speakers must have when they pulled off those small victories. She even shared her victorious moments and her opinions regarding the topic .Some of the conclusions we reached were:

Every small things bring big happiness.

Celebrating small victories give enourmous boost emotionally.

They are the opportunities to count our blessings and be grateful.

They are the chance to reflect on how much we've accomplished which gives us strength to carry on.

Celebrating smaller things is an important habit in living to the fullest.

In this process of knowing each other, the session provided a kind of homely warmth and didn't leave a minute where we couldn't relate to the talks. Nishma maam's confidence and the energy of the girls really made the second session of the sixth cohort a huge success.

Coming to me ,I'm Binisha Bhattarai,a participant and a program co-ordinator of Strength TogetHER and I personally was nervous as well as excited about the session . The cheerful ladies present there added sugar to my excitement and helped me let go my nervousness. That particular moment made me feel that we are strengthening together day by day and that LOKOPAKAR project is working at it's best.
